Travel Place : LITTLE ANDAMAN

LITTLE ANDAMAN

Little Andaman is the furthest point south in the archipelago you can travel to on a standard one-month tourist permit. Located ten hours by sea from Port Blair, most of the island has been set aside as a tribal reserve for the Onge and is thus off limits. It is also the only island open to foreigners to sustain extensive damage in the 2004 tsunami, and at the time of writing it was not clear how much was left standing on the whole coastal strip surrounding the port of Hut Bay. The most attractive beach is at Butler Bay, some 15km north. Boats from the capital leave for the island every other day but it is not possible to give reliable accommodation details, given the current uncertainties. The island also has a chronic problem with malaria and sandflies. If, after all that, you're still intent to go and provide some much-needed tourist cash, check thoroughly at the tourist office in Port Blair or better still with returning fellow travellers before you set off.

The rarest of rare flora and fauna have flourished in peace on these islands, more so because 36  out of these are inhabited.
Adventure sports like trekking, island camping, snorkeling and scuba diving are the not to be missed attractions. And of tourist who want to get away from the hustle bustle of the city life, a visit to these islands remains imprinted in the memory forever.
The Little Andaman Island Tourist Places has a beautiful beach at Butler Bay, a waterfall and plantation of oil palms. Apart from this there are several pristine sandy beaches all along the coastline of the island.
The break water at Hut Bay commands a spectacular view of the scenery around. Little Andaman is the vegetable bowl for the Nicobar group of islands, The Onge tribals habitat in this island, so do Nicobarese apart from settlers from erstwhile East Pakistan and other places. However entry to tribal areas is limited. Accessibility to this place is from Port Blair.
Little Andaman is the fourth largest of Andaman Islands. Little Andaman Island Tourist Places has been observed as a tribal reserve since 1957. This beautiful low-lying island has diverse rainforest and is a
home for several rare species of marine life.
