Planning trip to France

We are in the very early stages of planning a two week trip to France for September of 2009. The plan is to fly in to Paris, rent a car at CDG and take off from there. We would
like to visit some of the Canadian war cemeteries in Normandy and my husband`s French ancestors originally came from that area before they emigrated to Canada. We also want to visit the Loire Valley again as we were on a very quick tour there some years ago and didn`t get to see as much as we would have liked. This would be in the area of Blois and Tours. Is this too ambitious a trip to do in two weeks, especially when you consider we also want to spend four or five days in Paris? Also, what car rental agency is the best and should we rent the car before we go or do it when we get there? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Travelling to the Loire from Paris is easy straight road and the closest villages are Amboise, Blois and Chambord. An alternative to driving to the Loire is to take the TGV from Paris (55 mins) and rent a car from the Gare Tours, this will allow you to explore the area. Getting around is not too bad, my bet would be to stay in Amboise or Onzain there are lovely chateaus, check our myweekin.net for travel ideas you can plan your itinerary online free, if you have any questions contact me at contact @myweekin.net as I live in Tours
