In Rome (August of 2007) we stayed at Hotel Canada (Via Vicenza 58)- booked through venere.com at a rate of 126 Euros/night including breakfast. We took the train from the airport to the central railway station Termini as the hotel was maybe about 10 minutes away walking from the main station. We stayed in Rome for 2 nights then rented a car at the train station - again an easy walk. The hotel was good. Breakfast was fine. And the hotel was in walking distance of a metro. Re: Istanbul - been many years since there so cannot remember name of hotel though it catered to the French. Re: Athens - we will be there in September 2008. I made reservation at the Attalos. A 2 star hotel but with decent to good reviews.
