Rajkot

 once the capital of the princely state of Saurashtra and was founded by the Rajput Chief Kunwar Vibhuji in the 16th century. In the next two centuries it experienced many political ups and downs as it pased through the hands of numerous Rajputs Chiefs and Mughal foundars. The British political agent Col. Walker brought an end to this political in¬stability with the permanent settlement in 1808 and the Jadejas ruled Rajkot until after independence when the state merged with the Union of Saurashtra.
