The second largest Inwn in Madhya Pradesh. Jabalpur with once the capital of the Gond Mows during the 12th century. Inkilpur was later the seat of the I•nlitchuri dynasty. The marathas held olly over Jabalpur until 1817 A.D. When the British wrested it from ihnin and left their impression on the eimcious cantonment with its colonial inrinionces and barracks. Present ,Iny comparative calm as a commer cial centre. This peaceful tranquillity is reflected in the scene charm of Narmada River.
