Varanasi is Hinduism's holi. est city, Varanasi's original name KASHI, is said to have been derive( from the word "KASHA" meaninc bright. The present name is belivec to be a combination of Varuna anc Asi, the two rivers that board it: northern and southern periphery BENARAS. As the city is more popu larly known is only a corruption o the name, Varanasi (Va ranasi also known as Kasi and Banaras).
