Sri Pushkar Raj is 11KM at Nag Bills to the North West of Ajmeer lies this picture sque township and the sacred lake of Pushkar, takes one through a mountain pass to the holy lake. One of the moun¬tains on this pass is called Nag pahar or Snake mountain where the panchkund and cave Saint Agastya Rishi is located, It is said that Kalidasa, the 4th Century San¬skrit poet and playright, placed the action of his masterpiece Abhiggnana Shakunthalam in this forest hermitage.
Pushkar is among India's holi¬est lakes, According to Padma purana Brahma, the Creator of the universe was in search of a suitable place to perform a yaga. As he moved a lotus fell from his band and stuck fat three places from where water sproutedforth These three places were called Jayastha, Madhya and Kanishata. Pushkar. Brahma chose to per¬form the sacrifice of Jayastha Pushkar. There is temple dedicated to him out the lackoide. Throughout the ages, Pushkar has been a place of Piligrimage. Rama, here of the earliest Hindu epic Ramayana (1500BC) is said to have visited. In the 4th Century AD. The chinese traveller Fathien mentions it as a great piligrimate centre.

constructed by Shri Mangni Raamji
Banger. It is said that here it is only one

There are many Samadhies of ancient Saints and sages. Why it is named Pushkar? (Pushpa + Kar) Brahma threw the Puspa (flower) with kar (Hand). There¬fore its name is Pushkar. The pushkar lake sprang up on the spot and was dedicated to him. A temple of Brahma is a popular place of piligrimage. Pushkar at least once in their lifetime.
