Netarhat History

Pre-20th-Century History

Netarhat is situated at an altitude of 3,622 ft on the Chhotanagpur Plateau, 156 km from Ranchi. It is known as the 'Queen of Chhotanagpur' and is covered with thick forests and unspoiled natural beauty. It is known as a health and holiday resort in Jharkhand with unpolluted air, hills and waterfalls. Netarhat is famous for its glorious sunrises and sunsets during the summer months and the best place to watch them from is Palamau Bungalow and Magnolia Point. This hill-station was popularized by the English who were charmed with its solitude, pleasant climate and scenic beauty. The place is well known for its orchards of peaches and apples and a variety of flowering trees. A multitude of waterfalls, the fast flowing Koel River and scenic locations within the forests have made Netarhat a traveler’s delight.
