Till recently Hissar was the big!st district in Haryana. It has now been slit into three new districts being Bhiwani id Sirsa.
The towns of Fatehbad and ssar wre founded by Firoz Shah Tughlak. as then a division and included Hansie, yoha, Fatehabad, Sirsa and some other aces. Hissar is a birth place of Shershah M. In Persian, Hissar means a fort. In 91 Timur invaded Sirsa and Fatehabad. rlder the Lodhis, Hissar found part of .alhi empire. Babar gave Hissar to J m ay u n as a gift. The place was insiderrable importance under Akbar 30. Its historical monuments include the ine rates of Jama Masjid, firozshah's dace, the summer house outside the fort. ahol Shah's Mosque the tomb of Kalis ialas Hafiz and the Ashokan pillars.
The district has made striking firing the last few years, both in agriculre and industry. The Haryana Agriculre University and the government live )ck farm ( the biggest in Asia ) are both sated here. After the re-organisation of districts, Hissar is now the headquarrs of the second division in Haryana.
