Dwarka: Overview
Dwaraka was the cipital of Lord Krishna's kingdom. it is said that on leaving Mathura, Krishna had settled in Dwaraka. Many mythological stories are related to dwaraka, It is located on the western most tip of the Kutch peninsula in the Arebian Sea. Archeological excavation show that present Dwaraka is the 6th city in India. It is evident that Dwaraka was higly populated town. it was said to have been established 5000 years ago. Swaraka is one of the Hinduism's four most sacred pilligrimate centres. It is considered to be Lord Krishna's kingdom. A fact which draws a large number of devotees to this city Swaraka has been called a city of temples. The Dwaraka Peetha is one of the four Mathas of Schools to spread Hindu Gospel founded Adi Shankracharya in the 8th century , There is the Sharada Peetha. established by Jagatguru Shankaracharya. The Matha runs an eductional society for schools of Sankrit and Indology. Map
