Alwar is situated on National Highway No. 8 Alwar is 161 Km. from Delhi and 150 Km from Jaipur. The pink city express between Dehli to Jaipur is a good connecting train, good bus connections from both Delhi and Jaipur).
Alwar set among the weird Rock formations of the Aravali hills and studded with the old stone of history. The city nestles between several small hills, on the most prominent of which stands a dramatically, forbidding fort. The town of Alwar is dominated by a fort which crowns a Comical Rock and is backed by a range of hills. At the foot of the fort is a beautiful tank, Lakes and valleys, thickly wooded in parts have made this area the haunt of birds, rich in wildlife the delightful city of Alwar.
Alwar, amongst the Rajput principalities was closet to imperial Delhi, influencing the people and history of the Region formerly known of Mewar. The people of Alwar developed a hardy but carefree attitude to life. They did not submit to aline rule, and often rebelled. They were daring adventurers and murderers in the 12th
and 13th centuries they added together and raided Delhi at night. The westren gates of the capital had to be barred every againts their coming Sultan Balban 12671287 AD finally crushed their disorganised Muslim Rule. In 1771 AD Maharaja pratap Singh a Kachhwaha Rajput belonging to the same clam as the one that ruled Jaipur won back Alwar from the Mughals and founded his principality.
